‘Big’ TV Show Coming From ‘Enlisted’ Guys

Like the movie, the Big TV show will consider “what it means to be an adult, what it means to be a kid, and how in today’s world those two things are more confused than ever.” The original film centered on a adolescent boy who wishes to be a grown-up, and wakes up the next day as a 30-year-old man (Hanks).
Fox, Biegel, and Royce last collaborated on Enlisted, which Biegel created based loosely on his own life. Although the comedy got strong reviews from critics and attracted a devoted (if small) fanbase, it underperformed in the ratings and was cancelled after just one season. Hopes that Yahoo could revive the show were ultimately dashed.
Prior to that, Biegel co-created ABC / TBS’s Cougar Town while Royce co-created TNT’s Men of a Certain Age. Their other credits include Scrubs (Biegel) and Everybody Loves Raymond, 1600 Penn, and Lucky Louie (Royce). The Big movie was written by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg and directed by Penny Marshall.
