‘Fright Night 2: New Blood’ Trailer: Like 2011’s ‘Fright Night’, Only Sexier

Though the title suggests it’s a sequel, the direct-to-DVD feature Fright Night 2: New Blood comes across more like a remake of the 2011 Fright Night — which, of course, was itself a remake of the the 1985 film by Tom Holland. To make things more confusing, it seems to have no connection with the other Fright Night sequel from 1988.
The big difference in New Blood is that Jerry, the seductive bloodsucker played by Colin Farrell in the last incarnation, is now Gerri, an even more seductive lady bloodsucker played by Jaime Murray. Watch her make out with lingerie-clad victims and lick blood off of a sword after the jump.
The 2011 Fright Night was much better than expected, slipping in some sly wit among its stylish scares. Its not-quite-remake, on the other hand, looks exactly as cheesy as I’d think a direct-to-DVD remake of a remake would be.
Will Payne plays the hero, again named Charley, while Sacha Parkinson, Chris Waller, and Sean Power play the new versions of Amy, Ed, and Peter Vincent. Eduardo Rodriguez directs. Fright Night 2: New Blood hits DVD and Blu-ray October 1, just in time for the scaring season.
