A ‘Neighbors’ Sequel Has Been Discussed, But Isn’t Definite

Star and producer Seth Rogen recently discussed this, saying he and Evan Goldberg have had meetings about a potential sequel, but nothing is happening just yet. Read more about a Neighbors sequel below.
There, Rogen said “We are having a lot of discussions” about a possible sequel to Neighbors, but whether or not it’ll happen is still undetermined.
Besides these meetings, Rogen and Goldberg have a considerable amount of work on their plate. They’re completing work on The Interview, which opens in October. Then they’ll produce an untitled Christmas film with director Jonathan Levine and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. All the while, production on the 2016 animated film Sausage Party continues. After that, they’re hoping to make Jazz Cops, a period comedy with Nicholas Stoller and Kevin Hart.
Which is to say, even if someone cracks an idea for a Neighbors sequel, it wouldn’t get rolling until at least late 2015.
Let’s be honest here though. Do we really want to see a Neighbors sequel? Of course the first film did really well, plus Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s characters still live in the college town so hypothetically there’s some kind of scenario recreating the first movie. Obviously though, Rogen and Goldberg wouldn’t want to just rehash the same thing and the battle of the ages in the first film seems like a pretty one and done concept. I say, let it be and develop another new idea. Which Neighbors originally was.
