Legendary Swaps Rights For ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ To Get ‘Interstellar’

Warner Bros. and Paramount are co-financing Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which just started filming. Warner Bros. and Legendary teamed up on Man of Steel, which opened earlier this summer. Nolan has a great relationship with both companies and, in the deal to leave Warner Bros., Legendary negotiated a trade. They gave up their stake in the Man of Steel sequel, rumored to be called Batman vs. Superman, to keep their name on Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
The Wrap broke the news of this baseball card-style swap. And while it won’t have much resonance when either film hits theaters, it does offer a bit of insight into the state of each film. One might think, because Legendary chose Interstellar over Batman vs. Superman, they feel Nolan’s film is going to make more money. That could very well be the case.
