‘Star Wars 7’, ‘Avengers 2’ And More Set For IMAX Release By Angie Han/March 20, 2014 8:50 am EST When we finally journey back to the galaxy far, far away in 2015, we’ll be doing so on the biggest screens possible. Disney announced today it has officially renewed its long-running deal with IMAX to release several upcoming tentpoles in the jumbo format. The agreement covers all the films you’d expect, including Star Wars Episode VII, Maleficent, and all the remaining Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 movies....

‘The Expendables 3’ Set For August 2014 Release, ‘Escape Plan’ Moves To October 2013 By Russ Fischer/June 3, 2013 12:45 pm EST Briefly: Lionsgate/Summit has given new dates to two Sylvester Stallone films. The first is Sly’s latest team-up with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Once called The Tomb, the picture is now titled Escape Plan, and the studio has bounced it from September 13 of this year to October 18. On the new date, it will go up against are Carrie, Don Jon and Seventh Son....

This follows on the release of the long Super Bowl spot, and uses some of the same footage but offers a few more clues about what’s up with the story. The company challenged artists to design “a t-shirt inspired by the battle between Spider-Man and his archenemies.” And by archenemies, Threadless kept this limited to: Dr. Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Venom, Lizard, Kraven, Green Goblin, Vulture, Rhino, and Shocker. I found some of the contest entry rules funny, for instance — “The characters cannot be represented as children or animals” or “may not use actor likenesses or any logos in your design” and the expected no “blood and guts”, “political or adult content (sex, smoking, drinking, etc....

Over the past few years, the toy and game company’s relationship with Hollywood had kind of soured, resulting in Universal severing ties with the company and their properties.
