Marvel Storyboard Artist To Direct Monster Film ‘Lockdown At Franklin High’ For Michael Bay By Germain Lussier/Nov. 4, 2013 4:31 pm EST Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes, has been all about low-budget genre films in recent months. The first, Almanac, is set for release in February, and the company has just signed to do another one. This time, though, they’ve recruited a first-time director with a dream resume. Marvel Studios storyboard artist and animatics supervisor Federico D’Alessandro is in talks to direct Lockdown at Franklin High, a micro-budget monster movie written by Joe Ballarini and Greg Bishop....

Mel Gibson In Talks For ‘Taken’-Style Thriller ‘Blood Father’ By Russ Fischer/March 28, 2014 3:30 pm EST The man who directed the two Mesrine movies is recruiting Mel Gibson for a new thriller. Jean-Francois Richet has Gibson in talks to star as an ex-con and former Hells Angel in Blood Father, described as “a Taken-style action thriller.” Peter Craig wrote the script based on his own novel. (Craig also scripted The Town, and has worked on drafts of Top Gun 2 and Bad Boys 3....

NBC Rebooting ‘Murder, She Wrote’ With Octavia Spencer Starring By Angie Han/Oct. 24, 2013 3:00 pm EST Murder, She Wrote is coming back from the dead. NBC is rebooting the long-running mystery series, with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer set for the lead role. Writer Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives) and producer David Janollari (Six Feet Under) are behind the new version. Original star Angela Lansbury has been “approached” for a part as well, but it’s unclear at this time whether she will be involved....
