Trivia: Bill Murray Attempted To Rewrite And Save ‘Garfield’

Murray recently took place in a Reddit AMA, and there he talked more about Garfield. The interesting bits were not the repeat of the Joel Coen story, but the fact that Murray tried to do something that is generally not done by actors voicing digital characters: he rewrote the film, inasmuch as possible. Read his explanation below.
There’s a lot of candid gold in the AMA, which you can read here. One nugget is about the Jim Jarmusch film Broken Flowers, which he calls “a film that is completely realized, and beautiful,” but which he did in part because of circumstance. “I enjoyed the script that he wrote. He asked me if I could do a movie, and I said “I gotta stay home, but if you make a movie that i could shoot within one hour of my house, I’ll do it.” So he found those locations. And I did the movie.”
