If true, that contradicts an earlier confirmation by Singer that X-Men: Days of Future Past would be shot and released in the traditional 24 FPS. So which is it? More after the jump.
AICN says that’s actually the second source to claim that Singer will release the movie in a higher frame rate; a “pretty legit” one said the same thing some time ago but they didn’t want to publish the rumor until they had more evidence.
However, Bleeding Cool writes that they spoke with Singer shortly before production began on X-Men: Days of Future Past, and that he’d personally, directly confirmed to them that he would shoot in 3D at 24 FPS. In their opinion, Singer didn’t seem at all dishonest or uncertain when he was talking.
Of course, it’s possible that Singer wasn’t lying when he said that back then. Since Bleeding Cool chatted with him before shooting started, it may just be that he or the studio had a last-minute change of heart.
Adding credence to the HFR talk is the fact that Singer is a known fan of the format. Last year, he tweeted that he was “having some serious frame rate envy” after seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 48 FPS, describing the overall film as “amazing and involving.”
For now, we can only be certain that X-Men: Days of Future Past will be in 3D when it opens May 23, 2014.
